Week 1 – Introduction to Day Trading
  • What is day trading? (scalping, momentum, VWAP, breakout vs. reversal)

  • Key terms: bid/ask, spread, liquidity, float, relative volume

  • Understanding U.S. market structure (NYSE, NASDAQ)

  • Introduction to trading psychology (fear, greed, discipline)

Week 2 – Sterling Trader® Interface
  • Layout overview (Order Entry, Level II, Time & Sales, Charts, Positions)

  • How to configure windows for day trading

  • Introduction to Hot Keys and why they are critical for execution speed

  • Practical: customizing a workspace

Week 3 – Order Types & Stop Loss Basics
  • Market, Limit, Stop Market, Stop Limit, Hidden/Iceberg orders

  • How to set up a Stop Loss order in Sterling

  • Difference between manual stop vs. bracket order

  • Practical: place test stop loss orders in simulator

Week 4 – Bracket Orders & Hot Keys
  • Using OCO (One Cancels Other) for Stop Loss + Take Profit

  • Setting up bracket orders in Sterling

  • Configuring Hot Keys for instant stop placement (e.g. -10c, -20c, -1%)

  • Practical: simulate multiple entries with attached stop & target

Week 5 – Chart Reading for Beginners
  • Candlestick basics (doji, hammer, engulfing)

  • Support & Resistance levels

  • Indicators: VWAP, EMA, Volume

  • Practical: marking stop levels based on charts

Week 6 – Risk & Money Management
  • Risk per trade (max 1–2% rule)

  • Position sizing formula (based on account size & stop distance)

  • Maximum daily loss limits (how pros protect themselves)

  • Practical: calculate risk/reward for 5 different setups

Week 7 – Basic Day Trading Strategies
  • Opening Range Breakout (ORB)

  • VWAP bounce strategy

  • Gap & Go strategy

  • How stop loss is placed for each strategy

  • Practical: backtest simple strategies on charts

Week 8 – Trading Psychology in Practice
  • Common traps: FOMO, revenge trading, overtrading

  • Why traders fail to execute their own stop losses

  • Exercises in discipline (walking away, sticking to plan)

  • Practical: journal 5 trades and analyze emotions

Week 9 – Live Simulation Practice
  • Run a simulated trading session in real market hours

  • Each student places trades with predefined SL & TP

  • Group review of results: execution speed, accuracy, discipline

  • Instructor feedback on entries and exits

Week 10 – Final Review & Next Steps
  • Recap: platform mastery, stop loss setup, basic strategies

  • How to prepare for live trading (capital, broker, risk rules)
